U.N. Can't subdue Congo Violence!

Every time I read a story or hear anything about the U.N. it is always the same ring to it;

"U.N. Peacekeepers struggle to protect victims of war", "U.N. having difficulty getting rebels to adhere to peace treaty", "U.N. cannot deal with violence in African Regions".

So what exactly is the U.N. good for if they cannot "deal, protect, provide, safeguard, influence, or mandate" ???

Not a damn thing! That's right folks, the U.N. has a policy that they will protect any impoverished civilian from harm, torture, rape, mutilation, starvation, or death. Just one clause, the peacekeeping force has to see it happening, and the country has to have something that the U.N. can benefit from!

Have you ever wondered why all the photos show the blue helmeted soldiers standing around the corners of buildings? Simple, they cannot see the violence so they do not have to respond!

A nice little quote from an article regarding the grand plan of the U.N. Peacekeepers; "peacekeepers have provided millions of dollars worth in tactical expertise, transport and aviation support, food rations, fuel and medical supplies to Congolese army soldiers".

"Despite such support, U.N. peacekeepers have not used their leverage to get the government to remove commanders with known track records of human rights abuses from participating in the operations," the coalition said.

What we need is to disband the U.N. and bring on companies like Blackwater, but wait, we don't want violence, we want excuses.........

Jesus pretzel, toast, window distortion and now - Jesus Dog

I saw this a few days ago on Atheist Nexus (go there) and thought how funny it was.

Let's see how enthusiastic the catholics get over worshiping a dog's butt.

I don't know who to credit for this but it's a winner.

One Nation Under Cthulhu, painting

Just to balance matters . . .

Too dangerous in SC? Confirmed - watch this video

Crooksandliars.com/ are carrying a video purporting to be from The National Militia carrying direct threats.

BTW, Nat. Militia, there is a difference between 'patients' and 'patience'

Travel for the First Lady too Dangerous in third world South Carolina.

The security professionals who guard the safety of the President and his family have considered it too dangerous to allow the First Lady to visit the State of SC.

Go here to read a fuller article on this at Postandcourier.com, it's a stinging indictment on this State.

Here is the real message contined in the article:
"If security professionals, who apparently have reservations, actually believe it is too dangerous for the first family to visit a U.S. state, then we have dropped below the status of a Third World country."

The writer is correct, you know. These retards (that's about the politest I can be) are making their State akin to some S American country. Isn't it a pity Abe didn't let them secede when they wanted?

Footenote: SC was the first to secede on 12/20/1860: Lincoln (R) took Office on March 4, 1861

Things not to do while driving

I need feed back here so add you own pet peeves in the comments.

Some things you shouldn't do while driving because they pee me off!
  • Texting
  • Holding you pet dog (etc) on your lap
  • Drinking a hot drink
  • Applying make up
  • Throwing crap out the window
  • Shaving (electric shaver - I hope)
Boy, that's not many, I'm sure I can think of more. I'll re-visit this entry again, later.
Of course, some are conspicuous by their absence; that's because I do them ;-)

Let me know what else should be on this list.

South Florida Republicans Shoot Muslim Targets at Gun Range

From theledger.com

"HALLANDALE BEACH, — South Florida Republicans held a weekly meeting at a gun range, shooting at targets including cut-outs of a Muslim holding a rocket-propelled grenade launcher.

The GOP candidate to replace U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz fired at a full-body silhouette with “DWS” written next to its head.

Wasserman Schultz declined comment, but the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee called the Tuesday event “extremist” and “sexist.”

Robert Lowry, who’s vying for Wasserman Schultz’s seat, initially described his target as a joke. Minutes later, he called it a mistake.

Others refused to apologized for the Southeast Broward Republican Club event, featuring assault rifles and handguns. A conservative activist said they should stand up for their beliefs in the heavily Democratic county."

That is the behavior of ignorant, spoiled, know-nothing assholes. How can any respectable politician act in such a manner? How can people vote for these morons?

This is a behavior problem and can only be dealt with by talking to them in a way they understand (do I need to spell that out, people?)

For the record; I'm a gun-carrying atheist - and the only Republican I voted for was Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

"VACANCIES"
(An 'in' joke for those who know Sheriff Joe)

Closer to thee, my lord

If christians believe they will live with their god after death, and they just can't wait to shake off the mortal coil which is this sinful world, and they believe science is evil why, then, do they take advantage of complicated, live-saving medical procedures. Why not die quickly and, preferably, early, and get the f--- out of the way.
Better still, how about committing suicide if you really can't wait?

Nothing like bigotry, is there!

Fight at church - then church burns down; Hurrah!

Here's a good one from AP, it speaks for itself:
TAZEWELL, Tenn. (AP) - There was a fist fight at a Claiborne County church and now the building has burned to the ground. Detective Capt. David Honeycutt with the Claiborne County Sheriff's Office said the fire was being investigated and a look at the fight is a strong element of it. The cause of the fire late Friday or early Saturday hasn't been determined. Honeycutt said there was no indication of an electrical malfunction.
Edwards Community Missionary Baptist Church was in rural part of the county, near the Union County line.
"That's God's house. It's no place to throw fists, or shoot people, or talk about shooting people, (Ed. I thought that's exactly what it was for) it's for blessing the Lord," the church's pastor, Rev. Clayborn Gibbons, told WBIR-TV in Knoxville.
The station reported the building had stood for nearly 70 years, but a recent division over who should lead the congregation erupted into fisticuffs on Sept. 30.
Church member David Lovin told the station "it just all broke loose. (Ed: Didn't he mean ". . .all hell broke loose.")

Sell the Vatican to feed the poor

I've just seen Sarah Silverman on Real Time with Bill Maher.
She has come up with the perfect solution for feeding the world's poor - sell the Vatican. They are worth billions (or whatever is left over from paying hush money to all the sexually assaulted kids).
I think the idea is laudable and we should encourage a groundswell of support for this idea. What a way to go out; with a bang instead of just fading into oblivion, as they are.
And, let's not forget, most of their money came from the poor, anyway!

'One nation under god' painting

Jon McNaughton, it seems, has produced  his vision of the Constitution - being handed down from jesus (not capitalized because this, too, is a fictional character - per this blog's policy)

Vision of mental derangement
Vision of mental derangement
Isn't it about time we made mental treatment mandatory for renegade groups who refuse to be dragged into the 21st century?
Of course, it was one of these groups who invented the "Left Behind" series of christian books, etc. Sort of ironic - coming from a group who chose to be 'left behind'

Nobel Prize for (drum roll . . . ) god

Two Americans and an Israeli, Venkatraman Ramakrishnan, Thomas A. Steitz, and Ada E. Yonath, have won the 2009 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for explaining how the DNA code is translated into life.
Good for them, and humanity - well,  except that weirdo bunch over at blog.beliefnet.com
Here is what they say about this feat of great work: -
What strikes me today, however is that scientists who receive these honors win such praise for what they discover, not what they create. Through their cleverness, hard work, and remarkable brilliance, they have asked new questions and devised creative methods to unwrap hidden mysteries in the universe. But their success is detective work, not invention. This year's award for the explanation of how ribosomes work is notable and certainly deserved. But these scientists discovered wonder that was already there - put there by the Creator! (Their exclamation point)
WTF? Are these people just a bunch of cwazy wabbits?
I am putting the link to this inanity in full here (not as a link) because I want you to savor the full extent of it - I am not encouraging you to go there, just read the url:
http://blog.beliefnet.com/prayerplainandsimple/2009/10/nobel-prize-in-chemistry-2009-deserves-praise-to-god.html
'Prayer plain and simple' . . . 'deserves-praise-to-god'?
Bunch of cracker ass crackers.
Beliefnet's god did not create ribosomes, if he did, why doesn't it say it the bible; 'Thou shall not covet thy neighor's ribosomes'? (unless he meant rhubarb patch, which is something worth coveting.
These guys think they are in Socrates' cave whereas, in fact, they have their heads up their collective religious ass.

The Christian cross display Challenge

A large christian cross has been standing on piece of government-owned Mojave land, which was later transferred to private ownership following a court challenge to its legal presence.  The controversy surrounding this icon has gone to the Supreme Court for argument.
From the L.A. Times 10/7/09: "This is a stand-alone cross," said Peter Eliasberg, the ACLU lawyer. "The cross is the predominant symbol of Christianity," he said, and it should not be treated as though it is the single, favored religious symbol.
Justice Antonin Scalia took sharp exception to that comment. The cross "is the most common symbol" to honor the war dead, he said, calling it an "outrageous conclusion" to say the cross is limited to honoring only soldiers who were Christians. (My stress)
So Justice Scalia thinks that a cross has no religious significance? Is this the same Justice Scalia who is linked to the far right catholic group, Opus Dei? Shouldn't he recluse himself form this argument, along with several other Justices?
How can anyone get a fair deal with such a prejudiced bench
This is beyond stupid, and this isn't funny because Scalia probably believes this was a reasonable statement to make.
